Our Story: Lakewood Catholic Academy

Faced with the closing of three Catholic schools in 2005, the Lakewood community was determined to continue Catholic education in the lakefront city.

Through the generosity of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, a partnership was forged and plans were made to house a new, consolidated school on the eight-acre lakefront campus owned by the Sisters. opened its doors in August 2005.

Like the Sisters, this community made a leap of faith toward an unknown but hopeful future.

Today, LCA is in its seventh year of operation with over 600 students enrolled from pre-school through grade eight. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, sharing a love of learning and respect for one another.

Our rich curriculum challenges students to think critically and develop the skills that will help them succeed. Our beautiful campus provides daily inspiration to students through study, exploration, reflection and play.

With confidence in our mission, LCA aspires to a legacy of service graciously modeled by the Sisters of Charity. Following their example, we will continue our work with a pioneering spirit and remain ever-faithful to our calling.

Please join us as we honor the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine and celebrate “les anges vivants” of Lakewood Catholic Academy at the annual All Saints Auction on Nov. 5. All proceeds from the All Saints Auction will support the students, faculty and programs of Lakewood Catholic Academy.
