Doing the Lakewood Shuffle with the Detroit Avenue 'DAMES'

Help give back to the community, support local businesses — and have some fun.

The D.A.M.Es (Detroit Avenue Merchants Enterprises) are adding some spunk to Detroit Ave. with a new monthly event called "The Lakewood Shuffle."

Our inaugural shuffle is being held on Saturday, May 19th from 10:00 a.m. till 2 p.m. The idea behind the "Shuffles" is to help local businesses as well as give back to the community.

The Shuffles will be held once a month and will each have a fun theme. Starting in June all the "Shuffles" will be held on the last Sunday of each month, barring any holidays, then the date will be changed accordingly. Our initial Shuffle is a "Snack N' Shuffle".

The idea is to walk (or shuffle) to each participating shop and enjoy a snack! You will receive a raffle ticket just for stopping by. If you make a purchase, you will receive a second raffle ticket.

The more shops you can shuffle to, the more prizes you can win!Our Shuffles are not just about sales.

They are also about giving back to the community.

In July our theme is a "Dog Days Shuffle", where donations will be taken for the Lakewood Dog Park and for the Lakewood Animal Shelter. Raffle tickets will be given for each donation. As fall will be approaching, Pastor Paula from is helping us organize Shuffles designed to help Lakewood families by taking donations of school supplies, coats, toys and food. June will be fun for the kids as we hold our "Pajama Shuffle" and shuffle from shop to shop in our P.J's! Our initial Shuffle will be hosted by the shops beginning at Arthur and heading west on Detroit.

Watch for the gold and silver balloons to see which shops are participating! Stop in for your yummy treat and a chance to win a prize or gift certificate from each shop! A list of participating shops will be posted on Face-book!

Find us on Face-book at Detroit Ave.Dames! We will list  All of the merchants on Detroit Ave. are welcome to join the D.A.M.Es organization!
