A Ceramics Classroom Opens in the Screw Factory
A ceramics classroom opens in Lakewood
This past March I expanded my studio in the Screw Factory to include a classroom focusing on clay. Teens and adults can try their hand at wheel throwing and hand building. The studio will also offer independent, uninstructed work time.
After teaching for almost a decade at local colleges and non-profits I decided it was time to launch my own space and to create a clay hub for students and artists. Cleveland is one of the few major cities that lack a clay art center. The mission of this classroom is to provide Lakewood and the surrounding areas with a much needed community space that fosters ceramic arts education. This classroom hopes to further awareness, understanding and appreciation of the ceramic arts. In addition, they could have access to equipment outside of the classes for an additional fee through the form of open studios.
I hope to expand this fall with offerings for kids and extended open studio hours.

Spring classes begin this month and a summer schedule will be available shortly. Open studio opportunities will begin in May and continue to expand throughout 2013. Internship opportunities will also be available in the fall.
