Soups of the World: A Fundraiser for NORVA

All are invited to join members and friends of the Peace Corps community for an evening of soup, culture and art. All attendees will receive a hand-crafted bowl created specially for this event by local potters, and unlimited homemade soup from around the world. Each table will represent one of the many countries in which NORVA members have served, and will feature authentic artifacts and photos documenting life abroad. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door, and are available at the NORVA web site

A raffle and silent auction will be conducted throughout the evening, featuring a mix of international and local items, including tickets to Disney World. All proceeds will benefit NORVA’s grantmaking and community service programs. Since 2005, NORVA has contributed over $15,000 and countless volunteer hours to support the projects of currently-serving Peace Corps Volunteers from Ohio through the Peace Corps Partnership Program, to fund and administer the Promoting Active Global Education (PAGE) grant program, available to teachers in the Cleveland Municipal School District, and to provide ongoing ESL tutoring to refugees living in the Cleveland area.

The Northern Ohio Returned Volunteer Association was incorporated in 1979 and is an affiliate group of the National Peace Corps Association. NORVA's primary goal is to provide ways for returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCV's) to fulfill the Third Goal of Peace Corps to “strengthen Americans' understanding about the world and its peoples,” or simply put, to “bring the world back home." Membership in NORVA is open to RPCV's, family and friends of current and returned members, VISTA volunteers and any other interested community members.
