Keep Lakewood Beautiful is Sponsoring an Essay Contest for 6th Graders: “What Peace Means to Me…”

To help celebrate the dedication of The World’s Children
Peace Monument Sculpture in Lakewood Park, Keep Lakewood Beautiful is sponsoring an essay
contest open to all City of Lakewood
6th grade students.
Essay Topic:
“What Peace Means to Me…”



A call for short essays of 200 words or less from
students entering the 6th grade in fall of 2013 from City of Lakewood residents
from any school. See below for permission and submission forms.  Submission
deadline is Sept 3, 2013
.

The World’s Children Peace Monument Dedication will be
on the International Day of Peace on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2pm at Lakewood Park.  Every one of all ages is invited
to participate in the dedication ceremony on Sept. 21. The World’s Children Peace
Monument is located in the Keep Lakewood
Beautiful Adopt-a-Spot
Garden artfully maintained by The Lakewood
Kiwanis Club between the Women’s Club Pavilion and the playground in Lakewood Park. Please visit the sculpture
for inspiration for your essay!



Similar sculptures are being placed around the world to promote
peace. Our celebration acknowledges The International Center for Environmental
Arts (ICEA) and the children of Berea, Ohio have donated the Peace Stone for the World’s Children Peace Monument
to promote a sustainable global Culture of Peace and Goodwill. For more
