Western Movies: The Golden Age, Part 1: Winchester 73 (1950) Directed by Anthony Mann

Jimmy Stewart rides into Dodge City just in time to take part in a shooting contest run by Marshal Wyatt Earp. First prize is an 1873 Winchester repeating rifle, the gun that won the west.  Stewart wants the rifle so he can train its sites on Dutch Henry Brown, the man who killed his father. But guess who else has entered the contest? The prize changes hands several times as Stewart embarks upon a journey of vengeance that takes him over some complex psychological terrain, blazing new trails for the western genre.
