Power Restored in Lakewood Following Thousands of Outages

Two power outages in Lakewood took out power to most of the city on Tuesday.

Power has been restored in Lakewood, in the city that knocked out electricity to more than 15,000 FirstEnergy customers on Tuesday.

Heavy rains on Monday night and early Tuesday morning flooded the FirstEnergy substation in Brooklyn, taking out service to more than 10,000 in Lakewood.

Mark Durbin, spokesman for FirstEnergy, said that as power from that substation was being transferred, another substation went down — taking out power to another 6,000 Lakewood customers.
