UPDATE: Lakewood Gets Hammered With Snow (Again)

A few traffic crashes snarl rush-hour traffic.

Thanks to the most-recent blast of winter, a few crashes around Lakewood snarled traffic during this morning's rush-hour commute — but none of them were serious.

Spring is only 10 days away, but you wouldn’t know it by looking outside today.

Lakewood residents woke up this morning to find the snow had dumped a few inches of snow on the ground (again).

Plows were out in full force clearing the roads early this morning. And so were police squads.

Police Chief Timothy Malley said there were a few crashes Friday morning, and a few more fender-benders. There were no injuries reported in the crashes — including the one on Interstate 90 that slowed traffic to a crawl.

His advice for motorists?

"Same as always, take your time," Malley said. "Plan a little extra time to get where you’re going. Don’t tailgate other cars, use caution and keep an eye out for pedestrians as well.”

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning through 10 p.m. tonight, with as much as 8 inches of snow expected to fall on the area.

The good news? The worst of the snow fall has already fallen, according to the advisory.
