Eat Well Lakewood to Get Under Way Saturday at Lakewood High School

Learn to Live Healthy in Lakewood

Learning to prepare a healthy meal is essential to living a healthier lifestyle and Eat Well Lakewood hopes to give residents the culinary tools to prepare delicious dishes that are not only good for the body, but great tasting too.

 LiveWell in Lakewood, a community based non-profit organization, is hosting the event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at .

This is the second Eat Well Lakewood event, and restaurants are invited to share healthy items.

 “The residents are going to learn how to eat healthier and while dining in Lakewood, they are going to learn what menu choices are healthier than others," said Holly Lauch, assistant to the mayor. "They also get free samples, that’s always fun."

 She said the has a strong support system when it comes to offering its residents healthy choices. “We definitely have the tools here in Lakewood," she added. "We have the Lakewood Hospital as well as the support of Lakewood Schools.”

 The city — voted the most walkable city — is a city focused on healthy living. There are stores such as Nature’s Bin which is great — which not every community is lucky enough to have.

 While visiting Eat Well Lakewood, you can browse displays, get a free gluscose screening and pick up tips on nutrition.

 You can sign up for one of three cooking demonstrations; two of which are at a cost of $5.00 each and one is free of charge.

There are plenty of demonstrations to choose from:

Eat Well Hot and Cheap with Ernie Logsdon of Nature’s Bin from 1 to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per person.

Eat Well Safely with Rob McGorray. The demonstration will take place from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. It is free.

Eat Well Fast with Ross Keller of Italian Crations. The cost is $5 per person from 3 to 4 p.m.
