Lakewood Artists Headed to Akron

Crafts+Food+Live Music=Rowdy Indie Craft Fair!

A handful of Lakewood artists will be traveling down to Akron on Sunday for the Rowdy Indie Craft Fair.

The event will be held at Studio 526, located at 526 Grant Street in Akron. Brit Charek of Holden Allen is the mastermind behind the event.

Her wares are currently carried in Lakewood at .

Charek is billing the show as “a day full of art, music, food and awesome people", so definitely worth the short drive. Two local shops will be in attendance, along with a selection of local artists.

Therese from on Detroit will be there.

Keyhole recently celebrated their one year store anniversary, and when you check out their wares you will see why: truly amazing art. From dichroic glass rings to fabulous fascinators, they have it all.

Representing Crafty Goodness, I will have a table set up with a selection of locally made wares — everything from baby items to beer-themed tee shirts. I will also be hosting a crafting table, teaching the attendees how to sew snazzy hairclips or make gorgeous glass tile pendants.

The Cleveland Craft Coalition, based out of Lakewood, will be represented at the show.  Not only are Therese and myself proud members of the CCC, but many of the artists currently carried at both their shops are too, including Emily from Zween and Candace from Tattoo1981Ink.

Zween’s space at the show will feature recycled goodness, everything from matchstick notepads to creatures crocheted from plastic bags.  Tattoo1981Ink’s space will be full of adorable toddler dresses, lovingly crafted from vintage fabrics.

There will be a yoga demo courtesy of LifeSource Yoga, plus a graffiti art demo.

If that isn’t enough of a draw, the bands are scheduled to start at 6 pm.  ShiSho, Penzvalto, Ashley Brooke Toussant, Oldboy and Shivering Timbers will all be rocking the Casbah(or Akron).  A dance party will follow the live music, courtesy of DJ Dewey Decibel.  Sundays are usually uneventful,  but this Sunday will definitely not be.
