Finding Deals at Nature's Bin

New resident is excited about amazing produce at a neighborhood grocery store.

I'm a graduate assistant, therefore I am poor.

This is a fact, not an opinion. I shop at Aldi's and , maybe if I'm feeling fancy.

So I really didn't think a small grocery store would have anything in my price range. To be honest, the first time I walked through I was appalled by some of the prices. Eight bucks for tea? Are they kidding me?

But then by the recommendation of a friend I was told to really look at everything in the store. There were deals to be had, and many of them could be found right when you walked in the door. So finally I got off the 55 bus one fine Monday afternoon just to see if there was anything to be found.

I walked out with: a head of organic romaine lettuce, two roma tomatoes, three granny smith apples, green onions, a lemon, and a green pepper. All for a grand total of $5.15! Not bad at all!

What I like about Nature's Bin is that they sell both organic and non-organic produce, and much of the organic produce is similarly priced to the non-organic.

For example, most of the apples are the same price, or at the most, only twenty cents more a pound. If you are really concerned about having organic produce, twenty cents isn't so much more to pay, especially since other big chain grocery stores charge well over $1.49 for their own organic apples. And, in my opinion, the quality of the produce is far above that of other grocery stores.

Now you can find me wandering the aisles of the Nature's Bin just about every Monday. They list their month long specials online, but when you're actually in the store, you can find everyday prices that are a good deal (like almond milk for 1.89). And since a lot of their items aren't found in your average grocery store, you'll find a lot of interesting things to try (like coconut yogurt). There's also a good prepared foods section. I highly recommend the chicken salad! Finally, if you are in need of gluten free products, Nature's Bin has a great variety.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is there are deals to be had at Nature's Bin.

And while I can't afford to do the majority of my shopping there on a graduate assistant's salary, it is my one stop shop for great produce at great prices.
