Taco Truck Makes Its Debut in Lakewood

Food truck makes a stop at the Mini Mart on Detroit Avenue.

The Fired Up Taco Truck, for the past several weeks, made its first official appearance on Friday night.

Serving tacos, empanadas and Cuban sandwiches, the food truck set up shop at the on Detroit Avenue.

Co-owners Brian Finks Gavin Rupert kept themselves busy with a long line waiting to get some of the street food.

The pair — both professional chefs, whose resumes include and Lola — bought a retired Cleveland SWAT vehicle and transformed it into a taqueria on four wheels.

More than $30,000 and a couple months later, Finks and Rupert are rolling right along.

Under city ordinance, the food truck is prohibited from operating on public streets, however the truck is allowed to set up shop in private, commercial parking lots.
