Red Rooster Finds a New Home on Detroit Avenue

Lakewood Chicken and Deli opens in the space most-recently occupied former Guys Pizza.

Sam Ali has found a new home for his Red Rooster chicken.

It’s just got a new name.

Ali recently opened Lakewood Chicken and Deli after Guys Pizza moved out of the space at 18206 Detroit Avenue.

He still plans to serve his famous fried chicken and jo-jos that put him on the map.

Ali said that business has been “slow" so far, but added that he’s hopeful that it will pick up in the coming weeks.

“When the people know we are here, they will come,” he said. “It’s the Red Rooster chicken, my own recipe.”

The take-out business will also offer corned beef sandwiches, gyros and other bar food — convenient because the space shares access with the adjacent Avenue Tap House.

Red Rooster abruptly closed last year, stemming from family issues. The space is still vacant.

Lakewood Chicken and Deli has limited hours right now, but soon will be open from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.

The business also has catering services available.

Guys Pizza closes but the pizza is still available in Lakewood

An employee at the Guy’s Pizza in Fairview Park said that the company is still delivering to Lakewood.

“The franchise decided to give us a bigger location,” she said.

The Guys Pizza phone number — 216-227-7777 — for Lakewood now rings straight through to the Fairview Park location, so Lakewood residents looking for the pizza can still get it.
