Quaker Steak and Lube: Coming Soon

The buildout of the new 6,600-square-feet Quaker Steak and Lube is expected to begin soon.

A sign was hung in the former Quizno's shop in the plaza — the new home of the Pennsylvania-based bar and restaurant — that the Quaker Steak will open late this summer.

The proposed restaurant is  of a renovated  on Detroit Avenue.

Representatives from Quaker Steak have said that the company would like to begin construction as soon as possible.

Last month, the Lakewood Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for a 50-seat outdoor, brickyard patio. The commission also approved a second conditional use permit to keep the business open later than originally planned. 

According to the plans, a “brickyard,” outdoor patio — located on the Detroit Avenue side of the building — will have an outdoor bar area connected to the indoor bar. 

Quaker Steak and Lube officials said the restaurant, based in Sharon, PA, would be open “seven days a week, 365 days a year.”

Last summer, Quaker Steak and Lube signed its lease to open in the renovated Drug Mart Plaza. However, after  and , Radio Shack is the only other remaining tenant. 

The city’s architectural board of review  in January.
