Possible Salmonella Causes Giant Eagle Cucumber Recall

All cucumbers sold at the Lakewood location before May 17 being recalled.

In the midst of Memorial Day weekend cookouts and picnics, cucumbers have been recalled and pulled from the shelves at the  at the Bunts Road store — among other locations.

According to , C.W. Hendrix Farms Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla. has recalled cucumbers distributed from its facility from May 6-13 because of possible salmonella contamination.

An employee at the Lakewood location says to check your receipts.

"If you've purchased cucumbers before May 17, bring them back and we'll give you your money back," she said.

At this time, the produce at the Lakewood store has been deemed safe to eat.

Giant Eagle began calling customers Friday night to inform them of the recall and has a notice on its website.
