PNC Bank Marks Grand Reopening on Detroit Avenue

The space is completely renovated, using all recycled materials.

The Lakewood branch of PNC Bank on Detroit Avenue has a completely new look. It's a look that's as modern as possible, but the materials used in the massive renovation have been around a while.

The bank hosted an open house on Wednesday night with members of the community stopping in for a Grand Reopening party.

Plans for the nine-week overhaul of the space, which wrapped up over the summer, included several "green" aspects.

  • The counter-tops are made of recycled newspaper.
  • The ceiling tiles and carpet are made of recycled materials.
  • The back wall is made from the by-product of wheat harvesting, mixed with plywood.
  • Even the paint on the walls is recycled.

"This is very green project," said branch manager Kaprice Holloway, adding that she's pleased with how the renovation turned out.

"They made the area a bit better use of the space," she said. "It's definitely more welcoming to the customers."
