PizzaBOGO Getting Ready to Open in Lakewood Plaza

The regional pizza chain's application for its new, "vintage" sign. If approved, build-out of the space is expected to begin soon.

PizzaBOGO, a gourmet pizza chain based out of Hudson, is set to open in the 2,000-square-foot space most-recently occupied by the Four Seasons Tanning salon in the newly renovated Lakewood Plaza.

If the regional pizza chain’s application for its new, “vintage” blade sign is any indication, it will be open soon at 15320 Detroit Avenue.

Robert Kopis, the co-owner of pizzaBOGO, told Lakewood Patch last year that he didn’t have a date when the shop might open, but the build-out is expected to begin once the plans are OK’d by the city.

“There’s a lot of competition in the area, and great pizza shops like Angelo’s, but we’re a different kind of pizza shop,” Kopis told Lakewood Patch.

A review on Cleveland Heights Patch noted that the pizza shop had 35 toppings, “which you can pile on individually. In addition to the expected ingredients there are many unique items such as sirloin steak tips, asparagus, Chow Mein noodles, and fresh mango.”

David Berkovitz, the director of project management for Levey and Company, which owns the plaza, said that pizzaBOGO will fit in nicely with the plaza.

“Their product is a little bit different,” he said. “While they make a gourmet-style pizza, they will make your kids a standard cheese and pepperoni pizza. I think they’re going to fit in well. People in Lakewood have a sophisticated palette.”

The first pizzaBOGO opened in Hudson in 2004. There are now five of them, including a new one in North Olmsted, expected to open within the next couple weeks.
