Auto Shop Closing, Another One Moving In

Kelly's Auto Service at the corner of Madison and Elbur avenues changing hands next week.

Auto mechanic Bill Kelly is clearing out his auto repair shop, Kelly’s Auto Service, at the corner of Elbur and Madison Avenues.

The tools are packed up and in boxes. Only a few cars remain in the shop for repair.

The only items staying put are a few pieces of equipment.

Kelly said that the auto repair shop will close its doors after three years in business next week.

He said his full-time job as a trucker has made running Kelly’s Auto Service difficult.

“It got to be just too much for me,” Kelly said, citing some family issues. “I work here and I’ve got my regular job.”

Kelly said business at the repair shop has been “up and down.”

“It depends on the gas prices, if people can afford to fix something, they will fix it,” he said. “When it’s $4 per gallon, maybe people won’t get it fixed.”

Auto, Truck and Fleet Services is expected to open in the space on Tuesday. The phone number — 216-712-6352 — will remain the same.

“He’s a good guy,” Kelly said of the new tenant. “He will do just fine.”
