New Law Office Opens on Madison Avenue

Lakewood attorney Maria Shinn, specializing in estate planning and elderly law, set up shop at 12511 Madison Avenue. The law practice marked its grand opening on Thursday.

The structure that has housed  for years has a new tenant.

Maria Shinn, a Lakewood attorney, recently took over the space after Lakewood accountant Timothy Laskey found a new home on Detroit Avenue earlier this year. 

Shinn and her new law partner, Ben Gray, specialize in estate planning and elderly law.

Flanked by family, friends and city officials, Shinn cut the ribbon of the Shinn Law Firm at 12511 Madison Avenue in a special ceremony on Thursday.

“I decided to have an office, so I don’t have to travel so much,” she said. “I love the area. This is a dream come true."

One of the oldest commercial buildings in Lakewood, the structure was built in 1914 as a bank for the booming Birdtown neighborhood.

recently opened in their new home at 15514 Detroit Avenue.

Laskey, who was on hand for Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at his former home, said he’s looking forward to hosting a grand opening of his own in the coming weeks.
