Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Opens its Doors on Detroit Avenue

National chain takes both storefronts next to Five Guys in downtown Lakewood.

, a self-serve frozen yogurt shop, opened its doors on Detroit Avenue this weekend.

Although the grand opening is set for this Saturday, the store was packed with customers all weekend long for the store's "soft opening."

The national chain — brought to Ohio by Stark Enterprises, a partner in the Crocker Park shopping center in Westlake — will occupy both vacant storefronts next to the  restaurant in the 15000 block of Detroit Avenue.

Menchie’s made its official debut in the Cleveland area in June, when it opened its doors at Eton Chagrin Boulevard in Woodmere.

The franchise frozen yogurt has big plans. Five more stores are expected to open by the end of August, and within three years, about 30 will be open in neighborhoods across Northeast Ohio, said Menchie’s spokeswoman Lisa Schwan.
