Jobs available include store sales, store operations, customer service in call centers, and working in distribution centers. Many of the positions are part-time, and will require working evenings, weekends or overnight. Seasonal workers may also have a shot at permanent positions, if openings become available, depending on performance during the holiday season.

This is about a 2.5 percent increase from the company hiring 78,000 in 2011.

“Macy’s traditionally implements one of the most robust holiday hiring programs in American retailing, and that will be the case again in 2012. Hiring additional associates for holidays ensures that our customers are well-served in this busy shopping period – both on the sales floor and behind the scenes,” said Terry J. Lundgren, Macy’s, Inc. chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a statement released Monday.

The nearest Macy's to Westlake are in North Olmsted, Elyria and Strongsville.

Kohl's announced in September that it will be seasonal workers.
