Lakewood Summer Meltdown: The Perfect Complement to Streetwalk

5K race and live music are just some of the featured events at the downtown party.

Coinciding with the , for the second year, will be the 5K & Street Party, which will include live music and a beer garden.

Heidi Finnif, Lakewood resident and LakewoodAlive committee member, will be running in the race.

“I knew that this would be a really fun event. It’s unique in that there aren’t a lot of other evening races,” she said.

“And then, just the fact that they were making it part street party afterwards, it will be a really great chance to just, kind of, hang out on Detroit.”

Finnif expects anywhere from 300 to 350 runners to participate in the 5K and three times that amount to turn out for the subsequent street party.

The race will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. and will begin and end at St. Charles Ave. & Detroit Ave. Register online at www.hermescleveland.com or at the event, behind Melt. Fees are $20 before race day and $25 day of race.

A little live music to go with your Streetwalk?

The Burning River Ramblers play at Around the Corner each Thursday. This Saturday they will be playing at the , after the 5K race.

Conor Standish, the band’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist, said they play alternative, indie rock.

Or, he said, if you’d rather, you can call it college rock, which includes acts such as Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R, Jack Johnson and Sublime.

Though, “We play mostly originals,” Standish said.

The band will begin just as the runners are crossing the finish line. The stage will be set up in front of , which is sponsoring the event.
