Lakewood Patrons Back Barrio Expansion

The trendy Mexican restaurant will replace the Screaming Rooster in May.

Patch readers took to the comment boards Monday after reading that Barrio intends to expand to Lakewood this spring.

Owners of the popular, Tremont-based restaurant plan to replace the Screaming Rooster on Madison Avenue by May, and promise to open their doors in time for Cinco de Mayo.

Yay! Very pleased to hear this news. I'd like to see Madison fill out with mostly independent businesses. I am happy to let Detroit have all the mega-corporate chains. Maybe it's too early, but I certainly see a trend. Go Madison.

Linda Rogers:

I love hearing a successful businessman say that Lakewood is as desirable and trendy a place to put a restaurant as Tremont. That's not bad company at all. Good for us!

John:

I am noticing some new businesses on Madison, west of Warren, notably several art galleries. Hopefully some synergies will develop to spur greater redevelopment along Madison. I am looking forward to walking over to Barrio and seeing what they have to offer when they open up for business...

Will you miss the Screaming Rooster, or is it time for a change?
