Lakewood Nursing Home Partnering With Cleveland Clinic for Major Facelift

A 13-unit dialysis system planned, along with renovations at the Lakewood Senior Health Campus.

The is planning a major facelift to its property.

Plans were presented to the city last week that would “modernize” the property at the corner of Detroit Avenue and Bunts Road.

There are also plans to partner with the for a 13-unit dialysis system on the site, said John O’Neill, the manager and owner of the 150-bed nursing home.

“Because of the arrangement with the Clinic, the patients will often be residents of the nursing home,” he said. “The Cleveland Clinic doesn’t have any facilities like this.”

The remodeled space will house equipment for the treatment of outpatient dialysis, a waiting room, treatment rooms and office space, according to the proposal.

Also, the proposal for the makeover includes a renovated parking lot, a new canopy and a curb cut onto Detroit Avenue. There are also plans to clean up the landscaping on the property and update the colors.

The Lakewood Senior Health Campus plans were OK’d by the city’s architectural board of review at last week’s meeting.

“We’ve lost a lot of sleep over (the designs),” said O’Neill. “The building is long. This is the design that will pop – it kind of brings the building up to more of a modern look.”
