Kent State Watch Parties Slated in Lakewood

The Golden Flashes are playing for the MAC Championship today in Detroit. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., shown on TV on ESPN 2.

The Kent State University football squad is set to square off against Northern Illinois University for the 2012 Marathon Mid-American Conference football championship tonight.

The Golden Flashes will have some supporters in Lakewood.

The game will be shown on TV on ESPN 2, with the kickoff slated for 7 p.m. today.

The Kent State University Alumni Association will host game watch parties across the country in areas with larger populations of Kent State alumni including: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Raleigh, N.C., Tampa, Fla., and Washington D.C.

At least a couple Lakewood bars are hosting official watch parties.

  • Around the Corner: For $25, the Detroit Avenue staple is offering domestic draft beer, well liquors and 10 free wings — one the patio only. The party begins at 7 p.m.
  • Quaker Steak and Lube: Kent State reports that Quaker Steak and Lube restaurants around Ohio — including the Lakewood location — will host parties starting at 6 p.m.
