Dairy Queen on Detroit Avenue Getting a Major Overhaul

Ice cream shop on Detroit Avenue to share renovated space with Orange Julius.

The on Detroit Avenue is getting a makeover.

Adriane Rush, the operator of the Dairy Queen, attended last week’s architectural board of review meeting and requested approval for a major overhaul on the ice cream shop. 

The plans were approved.

The proposal includes removing the exterior of the structure — at 16803 Detroit Avenue — and adding brick.

The shop also plans to share its space with Orange Julius, a national chain that serves fruit drinks.

The rest of the property — including the landscaping, drive-thru and interior of the building — would remain the same, according to the plans.
