Charms Boutique Opens on Madison Avenue

 only been open for a few weeks, but the word is spreading.

It could be the jewelry getting people in the door.

Maybe it’s the clothing. Or, perhaps, it’s the artwork.

“Whether people are purchasing or not, we know people are talking about the place,” said Charms Boutique co-owner Elle Berry.

The store — located at 13705 Madison Avenue — sells items including art, jewelry, clothing, hair and body products, furniture and purses.

And most of the items are locally made. 

“We want more entrepreneurs in Cleveland to come together — and just work together,” said Berry. “We could have easily decided to order products from California or New York, but it’s people right here, in this city, so we decided to do that. We want to support what people are trying to do right here.”

Berry has been in the space since September, where she and her father sold furniture.

Last month, she brought on a partner, Shawnte Herkley — who’s responsible for the store’s hair and body products, as well as the extensive jewelry collection — and they officially opened Charms Boutique.

They both agree that it’s being a part of the community — whether working with other entrepreneurs or high school students — that they enjoy the most.

“We want to bring more to this area,” Berry said.

The store also hosts events and parties. One of them, an upcoming art show featuring the work of a half-dozen local artists, is set for from 5 to 8 p.m. April 14.

Charms Boutique, closed on Monday and Tuesday, opens 11 a.m., except Saturday, the store opens at 10 a.m. Also, the store’s open by appointment.
