Campbell’s Sweets Factory Opening Second (Prominent) Location in Lakewood

However, two longtime businesses, Normile Insurance and Landfall Travel, had to find new locations.

Normile Insurance and Landfall Travel have been in Lakewood — at the same Detroit Avenue location — for a combined 53 years.

Both of them now have new locations, as Campbell’s Sweets Factory is set to open at the prominent corner of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue.

Specializing in popcorn, chocolate and cupcakes, the store will make all of its goods sold at the Lakewood store at its new location.

In addition to its location on W. 25th Street, which opened in 2004, Campbell’s Sweets Factory also has three stands inside the West Side Market.

“We identified this as being one of the busiest locations in Lakewood,” said owner Jeff Campbell. “That’s why we’re here.”

He said construction is set to begin next week, and the new store is expected to open by September. Renovations include demolition of the interior storefront walls as well as an exterior renovation.

The new store means new locations for two long-time Lakewood businesses.   Normile Insurance found a home at 14235 Detroit Avenue, and Landfall Travel settled in Rocky River after a reported exhaustive search for a new spot in Lakewood.

According to sources, the owners of the building proposed raising the rent on the two tenants. The building’s owners couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

William Normile, the owner of Normile Insurance, said he wouldn’t comment on the departure, but added that he left on good terms with the building’s owner.

“I love the new location,” he said, adding that he’s reaching out to his customers to let them know about the move. “There’s free parking in the front of the building, and there’s parking in the back. It’s a bright and attractive location. Aside from having to move, and the hassle of that, it’s a good fit for us.”
