BuyBacks Opens on Detroit Avenue

BuyBacks, the , has opened its doors at 15316 Detroit Avenue.

Just in time for the start of the holiday shopping season. 

“The customers like it so far,” said Scott Hess, a BuyBacks employee.

He said that business has picked up during the past few days.

“How it works, is someone sells us sells us something, we fix it up and sell it,” Hess said.

There are thousands of used games, Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs and gaming systems lining the shelves.

“We're a little different than The Exchange,” Hess said. “This is just media specific.”

There are already 17 BuyBacks stores in Ohio — eight of those are in Northeast Ohio.

The Lakewood store is the 18th in the state, and the 67th in the country.

The store is located in the storefront previously occupied by Blockbuster Video, at the renovated Lakewood Plaza.

With potentially eight spaces available, the newly renovated plaza is starting to fill up with interested tenants.

In August, pizzaBOGO announced plans to move into the space just to the west of Radio Shack.

That was just a couple days after Quaker Steak and Lube had finished construction of its new location and opened its doors on Detroit Avenue. 

Several tenants left the plaza before the $3 million renovation began — the only ones remaining are Radio Shack and plaza anchor Discount Drug Mart, which is wrapping up its exterior renovation.

BuyBacks is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
