'Burgers, Bourbon and Apple Pie' Restaurant Opening Downtown

Eddie and Eddie's expected to open near the end of the year in the newly renovated Bailey Building.

Burgers, bourbon and apple pie are coming to Lakewood.

And at the corner of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue, they’re coming to one of the most visible spaces in the city.

Eddie and Eddie’s, a new restaurant owned by Northeast Ohio restaurateur Eddie Cerino, is expected to open near the end of the year in the newly renovated Bailey Building.

With the news of in the building, he said the timing couldn’t be better.

“We think it’s one of the top-ten restaurant locations (in the Cleveland area),” Cerino said. “We’ve gotten to know the folks at and . We thought we’d bring in a restaurant that complements both of those locations.”

Eddie and Eddie’s is not all about location.

The menu’s influence is as all-American as apple pie — which will be one of the restaurant’s staples.

Cerino’s grandmother, Carrie Cerino, owned several successful bakeries around Northeast Ohio. Eddie Cerino followed in her footsteps, opening a hip burger joint in 1985 called Fast Eddie’s.

Since then, he’s opened and operated a few successful restaurants, including Pizzeria Cerino, which he still owns. He also started, and later sold, the popular Eddie’s Creekside in Brecksville.

Cerino said hopes to build on the family’s experience in the restaurant business — and his talent making good burgers.

Keeping it in the family, Cerino is opening Eddie and Eddie’s with his son, Eddie Jr., and his daughter, Elise. His wife, Elisha, is also in the mix.

Plans to build-out the 5,500 square-foot space are under way.

The main entrance — at the corner of the bustling Warren/Detroit intersection — will greet customers with views and smells of freshly baked good (including the buns for the burgers).

On the other side: a bar featuring top-notch bourbon. Both Eddies spent a considerable amount of time in Kentucky distilleries researching quality bourbon.

Cerino said that Lakewood is the perfect fit for the new restaurant.

“We know Lakewood is committed to keep the city growing and vibrant and we want to be a part of it,” Cerino said. “People in Lakewood appreciate quality, good service and they love local. That’s our kind of customer.”

Dru Siley, the director of planning and development, said he thinks Eddie and Eddie’s will "complement" the rest of the businesses in the area, including Deagan's and Melt.

“It will be that kind of caliber of restaurant in the heart of Detroit Avenue — right downtown," he said. “And it probably has the best windows in the city.”
