Breakneck Gallery Opens on Madison Avenue

Lakewood's newest artist hotspot to host its grand opening in October.

There's a new fine art gallery in town.

Breakneck Gallery opened its doors this month at 17020 Madison Avenue in the space most-recently occupied by the Pop Shop Gallery.

The space is split into two parts: The storefront on the corner of Madison and Cordova avenues, houses all kinds of art for sale. Classic mediums including oil and acrylic paintings, photography and sculptures are sold there.

In fact, the Breakneck Gallery features the work of nearly two dozen local artists — which includes music, movies and books.

Then, in the attached neighboring storefront there is a featured gallery exhibit. This month, it's the work of Josh Usmani. That work will be sold at the end of the exhibit.

Breakneck co-owner Kristen Burns, who runs the business with her husband, Sean Burns, said the gallery will host its grand opening on Oct. 8 — just in time for Halloween.

"We live (in Lakewood), it's a cool community," she said. "This just seems like the perfect place. It's a really nice, community-oriented neighborhood. It does have an artsy edge to it."

Breakneck Gallery is open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday; from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday; and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
