Bid, Buy Local for Chamber of Commerce Online Auction

The chamber is encouraging folks to "avoid the slush and the rush" by shopping for holiday gift ideas from home. And, by shopping locally.

Want the opportunity to bid on items such as gift certificates to Lakewood restaurants, a four-month membership to the or a Patch polo shirt?

Well, you’re in luck because the is hosting its third-annual online Holiday Bid-Buy Auction.

More than 99 donated items, services and experiences are available through the auction. They range from lunch with principal Bill Wagner to an autographed NFL football.

And, of course, there are local favorites including tickets to the , ski rental packages from and .

But you’ve got to get moving — the auction will close Dec. 3.

“Rather than have a traditional silent auction or a fundraiser, where people would have to buy tickets to an event and get a babysitter … we wanted to do something different,” said Patty Ryan, the executive director of the chamber. “But also, we wanted to support our local merchants and encourage people to buy local for the holidays.”

The chamber is also offering an opportunity to win a 46-inch flat-screen Sony HDTV (donated by Costco) in its Holiday Auction Grand Prize Raffle — one chance for $5 or five chances for $20.
