Perfect Pair of Parties at Beck Center

'Summer Enchantments' bring out revelers, aficionados to support local arts.

Geez, mid-July already?

If you’re feeling short on sunny delights for 2011, the Beck Center for the Arts’ pair of unique Summer Enchantment events are sure to engage and inspire.

These “elegant affairs in exquisite mansions” are full-blown flights of fancy for summer partygoers and arts aficionados—replete with nosh, libations and live entertainment—and all to benefit Beck’s mission.

“Summer Enchantment consists of two parties that are considered to be some of the best of the season,” said Beck Center’s Marketing Director Kathleen Caffrey.

The Summer Enchantment shindigs take place July 30 and August 20.

And to hear Caffrey tell it, they bring out the revelers.

On Saturday, July 30, Beck’s “Asian Fusion Adventure on the Lake” features music from Madama Butterfly to The King and I tucked into an award-winning home’s multi-tiered outdoor pier. Cocktails (Singapore Slings and Mai Tais are promised) and delectable Asian fare are paired with the vocals of Mary Ann Vogel and Tim Culver. Obis, Nehru jackets, kimonos, saris, and like attire is encouraged.

Then Saturday, August 20, the hot-and-bothered “Twist and Shout!” party pairs a sneak preview of Beck’s season opener The Marvelous Wonderettes with Pink Peppercorn’s award-winning cuisine, vintage tunes and a decidedly garden party vibe. Nestled into a Westlake estate, this fab fete features Beck luminary Kevin Joseph Kelly as emcee in his role reprisal of Edna Turnblad in Beck’s Hairspray.

“They bring together some of the area’s best talent, top caterers, and are hosted in some truly breathtaking homes. Attendees will have an amazing time while benefitting arts in our community.”

“They’re both exciting nights out, and anything but vanilla,” said Caffrey.
