2nd Ride Opens on Madison Avenue

The new resale shop at 13703 Madison Avenue has it all: Signs, helmets, clothing, leathers, seats, purses and boots.

There are lots of second-hand and resale shops in Lakewood.

2nd Ride is hardly typical.

For starters, there really aren’t any shops specializing in motorcycle gear in a second-hand concept.

“This is a big area for second-hand stores,” said Sherry Bush, 2nd Ride owner.

“My kids are in Lakewood, I am from Lakewood and I’ve always liked Lakewood.”

Bush, an accountant by day in her full-time gig, opened the store last month.

“There’s really not another store like this,” she said.

There are some tag items for sale, but most of the items are “gently used.”

Motorcycle boots that sell new for $100 start at $25 at 2nd Ride.

It’s not just Harley Davidson gear either.

“It’s a nice mix,” said Bush, who's enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband for the past 15 years. “I am selective about what I buy, because I want to be selective about what I sell.”

Even though the store only recently opened, there’s been a steady flow of customers.

“It’s been going well,” she said. “I think it’s going to take off.”

The store is open noon to 8 p.m. from Monday through Friday; and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and “closed to ride” on Sunday.
