The Lakewood Division of Aging and Fairhill Partners are working together to present a powerful new learning tool for adult diabteics.

Diabetes is a manageable condition.  With a good knowledge base and a strong support system, people with diabetes can continue living active, healthy, vibrant lives.  "Diabetes Self Management" is a class that will get you moving in the right direction.

The City of Lakewood, Division of Aging, in conjunction with Fairhill Partners, is offering an innovative program for those dealing with the effects of diabetes.  "Diabetes Self Management" is intended for people who have been diagnosed with diabetes, for borderline-diabetics and for those who have loved ones with diabetes.  This six (6) session class moves past the technical aspects of the condition, and focuses on the practical, day-to-day tips, tricks and strategies of living successfully with diabetes.  Pain and fatigue management, nutrition and exercise choices, sugar control and communication strategies with healthcare providers are some of the topics to be discussed in this class.

"Diabetes Self Management"will be offered at the Lawther Center, 16024 Madison Ave., beginning Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.  There is no charge for this class.  Please call the Activities Office at 216-529-5005 to make your reservation.  Transportation is available for Lakewood residents aged 60 plus.
