Zydeco Music (and Food) Headline at Mahall's This Weekend

Grammy-winning Buckwheat Zydeco and Ils Son Partis Band paired with Zydeco Bistro Sunday.

With album names like Bayou Boogie and Choo Choo Boogaloo, calling Grammy-award winning Louisiana-bred band Buckwheat Zydeco and Ils Son Partis Band the world’s greatest party band doesn’t seem like much of a stretch.

And check out the YouTube video to the right, and you can see why critics agree.

This weekend, will appropriately pair the foot-tapping Zydeco dance party band with some Creole grub.

Kelly Flamos, said that the event is, in part, a birthday gift to their father, who spent a lot of time living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“It's an over-the-top gesture, we know, but if you ever met our dad, Stelio Flamos, you'd know that his larger than life personality and uncontrollable generosity could only be honored with such a big, fun party.”

This is a show the owners hope will be the first in a line of major national acts at Mahall’s.

Zydeco Bistro will be Mahall’s guest chef (with a special menu – see it at right) beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 22 and Buckwheat Zydeco plays at 8 p.m.

The band has played at the Olympics, for President Bill Clinton, and on countless national television shows, including Late Night With David Letterman and The Today Show.

Buckwheat Zydeco won a Grammy for its 2009 album “Lay Your Burden Down."
