Weekend Guide: Last Farmers Market of the Season; and All Kinds of Music

This weekend's got a little bit of something for everyone.

Where/When: 14861 Detroit Ave. at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1; Free.

Why Go: In short, because it’s your last chance this year. The market’s got everything local from all kinds of local vendors. This Saturday’s market will go out with a band with outdoor yoga as a wellness activity at 10:30 a.m.; a chef demo by Gatherings Kitchen at noon; and a healthy living workshop presented by Dr. Katherine Caputo, who share practical advice on using whole, fresh foods to increase wellness and vitality.

Why Go: New York-based Going for the One is a Yes tribute band that brings together five master musicians — each with a rich history in performing progressive rock.  Lead singer Jimmy Warlick possesses the high range necessary for Yes music and delivers the vocals with skill and confidence.

Where/When: , ($28), 8 p.m. Friday, September 30.

Why Go: Meet the Wonderettes at their 1958 high school prom, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts and voices to match. Fast-forward to their 10-year reunion and learn about their lives and loves and how their friendships have changed and endured - as they sing all your favorites from the '50s and '60s.

Where/When: Masonic Temple, Detroit Avenue; 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday Oct. 1.

Why Go: This all-inclusive event is fun for the whole family. And, you don’t need experience — or a partner.  The band Mud in Yer Eye hosts a contra dance on the first Saturday of the month. The cost is 6 bucks at the door.

5. JAZZ YOU LIKE IT AT THE WATERBURY COACH HOUSE

Where/When: / 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30

Why Go: Doris Long and The Joe Hunter Trio with Dallas Coffey will play Al Fuller, Toby Packard and more guests at the Waterbury Coach House on Saturday. The group will be playing traditional jazz so head down for a relaxing evening.
