Why go: Like the Doors? Well, the members of the Mojo Risin tribute band are Doors purists. They use only vintage equipment on stage to capture that unique Doors sound. They only use authentic. They appear in full costume.

Talk about keeping it real. However, what really sets them apart from other tribute bands is that they re-create a Doors concert as it looked and sounded live in 1969, rather than just imitate The Doors as they sounded in the studio.

When/where: Saturday, December 10, 6:00 pm; , 15425 Detroit Ave., free.

Why go: Because it’s the Gremlins. ‘Nuff said. The scariest, funniest, most-merchandised holiday film of all time still thrills. So put off your shopping for one more day and enjoy a night out with the whole family. Yes, you can bring your own snacks — but don't feed them after midnight.

When/where: 10 p.m. Saturday. , 12112 Madison Ave. $7.

Why go: If you like tribute bands of rockers from decades past, the Winchester is your scene. The second tribute show in one week, Afterglow — the Genesis Tribute Band — is sure to please.

When/where: Sunday, December 11, 2 p.m.; , 15425 Detroit Ave.; free.

Why go: The Flip Side’s been around. You may have seen them playing solo or in duets. They’ve been called “five bands in one.” Their gentle harmonies and earnest dedication to music and community allow them to put a personal stamp on their repertoire of original songs, folk standards and classic rock. Sunday with the Friends takes place nearly every Sunday at 2 p.m.

When/where: 2:30 p.m. Saturday; , 17801 Detroit Ave.; $28

Why go: Last year’s production of was such a hit, the decided to bring it back for an encore. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat — a humorous retelling of the biblical story of Joseph of Canaan — will run all month.
