Ohio Chautauqua Kicks Off Today With Youth Programs

Head to the Beck Center for the Arts for programs geared to the kids. Events start today.

Editor's note: This is the last story in a series of four, featuring the events of the Ohio Chautauqua in Lakewood, which kick-off today. Check out the  reported last week.

The youth programs presented as part of Ohio Chautauqua will be at the Beck Center for the Arts.

Designed for those 8 years old and older, the programs will cover various topics and include such activities as writing letters to President Obama.

Each of the five Chautauqua scholars will present a program that will last about 45 minutes.

“The Beck Center is such a wonderful gathering place for the community – it’s great to be a part of it for that reason and we are happy to provide a venue for some of the activities,” said Cindy Einhouse, executive director of the Beck Center. “Our mission is to educate and entertain, this has an artistic element to it as well, we are happy to be a part of it,

All of the children’s programs will start at 10 a.m.

Wednesday: The Every Day Life of the Civil War Soldier

Thursday:  African American Heritage: Stories, Games and Songs

Friday: Dear Mr. President

Saturday: Civil War Diaries

Sunday: Healthy Living, Civil War Style
