'Meet the Author' at Lakewood Public Library

Library sets fall events — and poetry is a part of the equation.

When the  says its hosting a "Meet the Author" event, it means business.

"We really mean it,” said library program coordinator Ben Burdick.

Coming up on Oct. 19, attendees will have a chance to meet the author of The Whit Museum, George Bilgere.

“It’s an intimate environment," Burdick said. "It’s a little different than what we’ve done before. We haven’t had a lot of poets.”

The free event will take place in the main library’s auditorium at 7 p.m.

“I was pouring your coffee / and suddenly the whole house made sense,” one of Bilgere’s poems goes.

As with most of them, it is simple with a slight sadness.

Though, if you are not into poetry, there are a few more upcoming events that may appeal to your tastes:

  • Lakewood Art House Cinema presents Donnie Darko – On Saturday, October 22 at 6 p.m., the library will screen this cult classic, which tells the story of a young kid living in a strange and constantly stranger world.
  • Sunday with the Friends: Wordstage – On Sunday, October 23at 2 p.m., the tales of beloved author, Edgar Allen Poe will be read to live, classical chamber music.
