Junk 2 Funk Event Enjoys Its Best Year Yet

All proceeds will go to help fund Lakewood's North Coast Health Ministry

enjoyed its best year yet as the sold out event raised more than $3,000 to help fund Lakewood’s . 

Artists from around the city donated sculptures, paintings, furniture, jewelry, purses and more — and lucky attendees acquired them by participating in the Chinese raffle and live auction. 

StArt Neo president, Ruth Koenigsmark, organized the event and attracted local eateries, like Dewey’s Pizza, India Garden and the Borderline Café, to donate food and refreshments for the 100 plus guests who convened at the on Friday, she said.

“It was a terrific night,” LGG owner Linda Goik said. “It was the best year yet in terms of quality of donated items and participation, and it just had a great feeling to it.” 

All of the proceeds will go to benefit the city’s faith-based free clinic that cares for typically low income patients who seek primary care, prescription drug assistance or behavioral health counseling, North Coast development director Jeanine Gergel said.

“Given the attendance and the growing popularity of the event, we were able to raise about $1,000 more dollars versus last year,” Gergel said. "I’d just like to thank all who came out in support of Junk 2 Funk. We and stArt Neo really appreciate the community involvement.”
