Get Out: Free Movie; Open Studio; and Shoes for Charity

Get out and have a night on the town this weekend.

Believe it or not, the holidays are around the corner.

Before your schedule gets jam-packed with cooking for the in-laws or planning travel arrangements, take a peak at just some of the events going on this weekend around Lakewood.

Where/When: ; 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5.

Why Go: Get your holiday shopping done early, and support local artists and artisans. Featuring extraordinary original artwork by talented artists and artisans, you will find an array of creative gifts including jewelry, pottery, prints, drawings, photography and watercolors.

Where/When: ; 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5; Free.

Why Go: Two words: Free. Movie.  For this series, Professor Terry Meehan has selected one title from each decade and will provide his own special features in the form of rare clips and original documentaries. The audience is invited to stay after the show to discuss each director's unique approach and trace it all the way back to Sam Spade sitting alone in the dark. The movie is rated R, so leave the little ones at home.

Where/When: , 13000 Athens Ave.; 1-7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5; Free.

Why Go: This day comes but four times a year. The Screw Factory Artists are hosting their one-day open studio featuring the work of over 30 artists. They open their studio doors only four times a year. This is not an event to be missed! In addition, the artists will host visiting artists within their studios. The building has an eclectic variety of media including functional and sculptural ceramics, drawing, painting, mixed media, handmade bags, fiber arts, sculpture, glass work, jewelry, mosaics and printmaking.

Why Go: Help make a difference this holiday season. Please join us at Mullen's on Madison with your shoes - the ones that you want to donate that is and we will take any and all shoes!  Old shoes, new shoes, tennis shoes, kid's shoes, any old pair will do and if it can't be worn it can be recycled!  Donations are tax deductible! Mullen's will be offering drink specials that night and we will be offering our gratitude for helping out such a worthy cause! And, maybe, some surprises!

Where/When: ; 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4; $10.

Why Go: If she’s good enough to play at the White House, she’s good enough to play in Lakewood. Anne is a 4-time winner of Cleveland's Best Singer Songwriter award (Cleveland's Scene Magazine). She has performed at Lilith Fair, The White House, opened for Nora Jones, Train, Vonda Shepard, 10,000 Maniacs, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett and Guster, to name a few. She appeared in the Vagina Monologues as Cleveland's Belkin Productions pick for celebrity guest performer. Anne E. will be releasing her newest CD, Swing, at this show.
