Get Out: Arts, Crafts And Rock 'n' Roll

From a community festival to a CD release party, there's a lot going on this weekend.

1.

Where/When: /Saturday May 14, 8 p.m.

Why Go: This is a showcase featuring the students of Vance Music Studios in Lakewood.  The students are all ages, young and old.  You will hear everything: jazz, rock, blues, folk and more.  Vance Music Studios offers the highest quality private musical instruction possible.

Their instructors hold degrees in music from a variety of major universities and conservatories, have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience, and are extremely active as performers on a local as well as a national level.  Check out the student bands as they perform live, you may see the next upcoming superstar!

Where/When: /Sunday May 15, Noon until 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Beck Center gives a little back to the community with their Celebration of the Arts – a free, family-fun event that features art activities, door prizes, entertainment, and refreshments. You can see performances by Beck students, check out the latest art exhibits, or take part in a ton of other fun activities.

3.  LOCAL ART AND CRAFT BAZAAR

Where/When: bela dubby/ Saturday May 14, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Why Go: Get some very unique knick-knacks at awesome prices at the Cleveland Craft Coalition’s art and craft bazaar. Everything for sale is hand made by Cleveland area crafters who will be available to chit chat about their work.     

4.  28 NORTH, 70 LEWIS AND WATERBAND

Where/When: The /Thursday May 12,  7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate the release of 28 North’s new album “A Long Walk home” with a night of awesome new music at The Phantasy. Hailing from Pittsburgh, 28 North puts the ‘rock’ back in pop-rock with gnarly guitar tones and gritty, bluesy riffs. Lakewood’s own 70 Lewis blends piano pop with progressive alt-rock for a fresh sound you can’t get anywhere else. And festival favorite jam band Waterband will be there to close out the show.

Price: (includes copy of “A Long Walk Home”) $12 ($15 if you’re under 21.)

5.  ALAN GREENE BAND

Where/When /Friday May 13, 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you’re looking for some old school electric blues then stop in at The Screaming Rooster on Friday night and check out the Alan Greene Band. These guys have the experience and the chops to bring the classics back to life and make you dance about it.
