Fundraiser for Lakewood Animal Shelter is a Hair-Raising Success

More than 100 people showed up for Saturday's seventh-annual , and raised more than $5,000 to help animals in Lakewood.

The event, hosted by the , featured 40 gift baskets, music and a live comedian.

Fox 8 meteorologist Dick Goddard made a special appearance, as did .

Organizers hosted the event, at the , to raise money for the organization’s spay/neuter program. The donations were up more than 50 percent from years past.

Organizers said the event was a “hair-raising success,” noting that the donations help maintain the group’s mission: to improve and protect the lives of Lakewood's pet companion population.
