Tempest (Celtic Rock) in Concert
"Tempest rocks, but its forte is folk-rock with a decidedly Celtic accent, drawing on traditions stretching back hundreds of years."
- Chicago Tribune.
Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Celtic rock band Tempest delivers a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Celtic folk rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements.
Lief Sorbye, founding member lead singer and electric mandolinist in Tempest, is recognized as a driving force in the modern Celtic folk-rock movement. Guitarist James Crocker is a native of Devon, England, and a former member of the UK's folk-rock band Equation. He combines a deep-rooted British folk sensibility with a life-long rock experience.
Fiddler Michael Mullen, a favorite with the fans, is the original fiddler for the group. Bassist Damien Gonzalez, a native Californian, is also an accomplished drummer and didgeridoo player. Cuban-born drummer Adolfo Lazo, an original Tempest member, colors the band's sound with inventive percussion.
