Don’t Miss the Lakewood Arts Festival

Like artistic clockwork, the 35th annual Lakewood Arts Festival will take over Detroit Avenue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, bringing more than 150 artists to town and a lineup of entertainment that is sure to pack downtown with thousands of browsers, buyers and admirers.

Expect a dazzling array of human creativity from innovative local and national artists – think ceramics, jewelry, painting, fiber, mixed media, sculpture/metal work, photography, glass, and etching/printmaking.

Each year, organizers seeking fresh talent, require vendor hopefuls to must undergo a rigorous application process.

Event day judges will scout the white tents lining Detroit Avenue to present awards to artists in categories of Best of Show, First, Second, Third and Fourth Place, Best Creative Presentation and Best New Artist.

Oh yeah, the event will also feature live entertainment.

Shows will pop up along Detroit Avenue 

• 10am - The Flavor (Blues)
• 11am - Phillip Williamson (Street Performer)
• Noon - Lonesome Bones (Americana)
• 1pm - St. Ignatius Circus Company
• 2pm - Rachel Shortt (singer/songwriter)
• 3pm - St. Ignatius Circus Company
• 4pm - Sheela Das

Beck Center Performers (at the corner of Belle and Detroit avenues)

• 10am -noon - S. Gallagher, Pottery Demo
• 11am -1pm - D. Centouri, Visual Arts Demo
• noon -1pm - Soprano Sax, International Music
• noon – 2pm - D. Dore-Rook, Visual Arts Demo
• 1:15-2:15 - Rex Bacon, Drum Circle
• 2:30-3pm - Something Dada, Improv
• 4 - 4:30pm - Something Dada, Improv

The event is rain or shine. And remember, no dogs allowed per the Lakewood Police Department.
