And, the art is for sale.

Susan Gallagher, associate director of visual arts education at the Beck, said the Beck hosts about 10 galleries each year.

“We do this holiday sale and make their work available because we really try to support local artists when we can,” she said. “They’re wonderful pieces to consider for holiday gifts — that enrich people’s lives.”

The five local artists are: Lakewood’s own Joseph Gregg (photography), Ann Caywood Brown (pastels and photo transfers), Bonnie Gordon (pottery), Mardel Sanzotta (painting) and Debra Sue Solecki (drawing).

“As an artist, I want to educate people about what we have here in Lakewood and Northeast Ohio,” Gallagher said. “There are so many wonderful artists and not enough space to show them all.”

While we’re on the subject of holiday gifts ideas from the Beck, there are other ideas that are “out of the box.”
