WATCH: Video of Cleveland Innerbelt Bridge Demolished

Innerbelt bridge demolition captured on video.

The Innerbelt Bridge, finished in 1959, took years to build. On Saturday, in came down in seconds.

With a crowd of onlookers snapping pictures and video, the bridge spanning the Cuyahoga River Valley near downtown Cleveland was demolished at about 6 a.m. with a flash, then a boom, then the falling of debris.

Channel 5 News reports that pavement, lights and other fixtures of the bridge were removed by hand as will be sections of the bridge over the river.

Cleveland.com reports 182 pounds of explosives were used to send more than 10 million pounds of steel crashing to the ground.
