Ha! I totally agree Ralph. Self-congratulatory at best; at worst, I'll quote Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars Episode IV (one of the few good movies), "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." Well, maybe you will in DC, but Hollyweird has got to be up there!

Pay them 10 bucks an hour like most poor people earn and then cheer them on.

I assume that neither Mark nor Ralph does any of the following:
watches/goes to the movies
listens to the radio
buys any kind of music
uses any sort of media at all
let's forget about how they vented their frustrations on a website owned by AOL.

You are correct, I do not watch much TV or listen to the radio. The choices there are much too limited. I do enjoy enjoy reading, watching and listening to stuff on the Internet and borrowing media from public libraries. My dislike of Hollywood and DC is their elitist disdain and statist oppression of anyone not like them.

I am very interested in what my society or culture has to offer. As an artist and writer I keep up with lots...local music and art....too much self serving on the flat screen.
Support local art and music.Open up your front door and take a walk into the real world. Sit on a park bench and talk to a stranger...it's your movie...it's your experience...not an actors on the screen.

internet news and educational sites are days if not months ahead of newspapers and forget the crap on local news. Journalism is rare.

Patch posted a story about Shaker Heights HDTA program receiving a 1.6 million dollar grant to provide more funds to combat drug trafficking. I believe that the money could be spent better else where. The streets are crumbling and this is how they spend tax payer dollars? The police already have automatic weapons, an armored swat vehicle, and plenty of personnel. Are they going to use this 1.6 million dollar grant to buy a patriot missile defense system? Look at any sheet on statistics and it can be clearly seen that the war on drugs has been a failing costly endeavor. I will post my comments here so others may read. I don't know why patch removed the page, perhaps to censor the debate? Either way it seemed somewhat odd to me. I hope patch isn't practicing the tactics used by fascists to silence the public.

I removed the article because I had the facts wrong. I posted it with a correction on the front page today - here's the link: http://shakerheights.patch.com/articles/shaker-heights-administers-1-6-million-for-drug-trafficking-task-force

I have an idea how about you fix some of the streets in Shaker Heights, reduce the frivolous spending of incompetent politicians, and revitalize the area. That's very innovative thinking is it not? This country has been waging a "War on drugs" for the last 40 years. They don't waste money and time on this endeavor in other countries. All this does is add more funds to an already out of control Police State. The penal system is filled to the brim. What happened to liberty and freedom? I do not care what Joe Shmoe does in his basement, and neither should you. When are the police gonna arrest the Zionist wall street fat cats who drove the economy of this once great nation directly into a brick wall. There the elite so of course they are not subject to the laws of the United States of America. I think 1.6 million dollars would go a long way in some renewable energy sources for the city, so perhaps they could save the tax payers some money on the other end. A brilliant idea like that would have to be backed by politicians and we all know they wouldn't want to do anything to enrich the people and thus enhance their quality of life. City government needs a breath of fresh air these people who currently hold office care nothing for their citizen's nor the city. How bout an all organic farm within city limits I bet 1.6 million would go a long way there as well. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

Hurrah Nathanial! End the other wars too while you're at it, like the War on Terrorism and the War on Poverty. These misnomers are nothing but excuses for more government power and less human freedom. You can't wage war on inanimate substances (drugs), a tactic of war (terrorism) or economic reality (scarcity). As such, these wars will never succeed and are unending, which is great if you want a police state. If you'd rather have peace and prosperity (and I know I would) then end the WOE (War on Everything)!

Well Nikki, if that's the case, I retract my previous statement about patch using fascist tactics. That was very unruly of me and i do apologize. Thanks for staying on top of things.
I'm with you Nathaniel...legalize drugs...remove the profit and violence related to drug trafficking...as far as Zionist Wall street fat cats? As a Jew, that remark offends me.
I could point my finger at the catholic Church too! But, I won't.
