We asked the police chiefs in our Patches their favorite song, and made a Spotify playlist.
We're going to mix it up with our Spotify playlist this week. Instead of telling you what we're listening to, we're asking prominent people in the community what they're rockin'. This week we asked the police chief in each of our Patches their favorite song. To listen, you have to be a Spotify user, but don't worry, signing up is free! Who should we ask next week? Here's the song each police chief chose (WARNING: SOME SONGS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN): "Star Spangled Banner," U.S. Coast Guard version: Fairlawn Chief Kenneth Walsh "Katmandu," Bob Seger: Lakewood Chief Timothy Malley "I Fought the Law," Bobby Fuller Four: Westlake Chief Richard Walling AND Avon Lake Chief David Owad "Hurricane," Bob Dylan: Mayfield Heights Detective Joe …

Ohio Heritage Summer Camp slated for June, offered through the Lakewood Recreation Department.
This isn’t your typical summer camp. Starting in June, kids in Lakewood will have the opportunity to party like its 1829. As part of the Ohio Heritage Summer Group, children will learn how to cook, go to “pioneer school,” play historic games and work on nifty crafts — as if it’s the 1800s. The Old Stone House, located in Lakewood Park, will be the site of the camp, courtesy of the Lakewood Historical Society. The Lakewood Recreation Department program is for students heading into the third, fourth or fifth grades — or sixth grade students who haven’t participated in the camp before. The cost of registration is $49 per student (for Lakewood residents) and $59 for non-residents. The first of four sessions begin June 18; registration is …

Annual Zombie Walk draws hundreds of "zombies" to Lakewood hungry for brains.
On Saturday, nearly 500 zombies took to the streets of Lakewood — no, they weren't looking for brains. They were hoping to raise money and food for Harvest for Hunger program through the Cleveland Food Bank. Starting at the Five O'Clock Lounge, volunteers strutted their stuff down Detroit Avenue. To participate in the event, the would-be zombies donated $5 donation and two canned goods. Even organizer Joe Ostrica — of Old School Sinema, which produces low-budget horror films — said that Lakewood's zombies last year helped raise 1,769 pounds of food. There are two Zombie Walks in Lakewood each year — once in April and again in September. "Every April and September, for one Saturday afternoon, the streets of Lakewood will witness a massive…
